Ten Great Writing Resources on Pinterest
by Liv Rancourt
First of all, thanks so much for having me as your guest, Lynn!
I’m one of the thousands of Pinterest addicts out there, and over the last few months I’ve noticed something new. People are pinning more blog posts and articles about writing, which are both informative and inspiring.
As if I needed another excuse to hang out on Pinterest. Now I can say I’m LEARNING something!
I first joined Pinterest because I’d heard it could be a useful tool for organizing images for my various writing projects. Every book gets a board, plus I’ve got boards with people or locations that might inspire future projects. It’s also possible to use Pinterest for promotion, though I’ve never had any success with that angle.
But Pinterest-as-a-source-of-info is something new to me. Organizing pins about various aspects of writing craft is a little bit labor-intensive and the search function isn’t as specific as google, but it can still be useful. Just don’t do what I do. I save writing-related pins to my Cat in a Bag board, along with funny memes, inspiring quotes, and cat pictures.
Because that’s how my brain works.
For an example of an author who does Pinterest well, there’s Elizabeth Hoyt. She has boards for all her books, for her characters, and for her cover art. If you like her brand of down-to-earth historical romance – or if you just want to see how Pinterest could work for you – check her out.
To capitalize on what I’m calling a trend, here are half a dozen or so Pinterest boards &/or profiles that contain lots of solid information…
Amanda doesn’t have a bio on her profile, but her Write-On board has a range of pins covering all sorts of writing topics. Favorite link so far: Six Must-Listen Podcasts for Novelists, Screenwriters, and Storytellers.
Donna’s a writer, and many of her pins are lists or formatted with bullet points, which makes them quick and easy to read. Here are some of my favorites: Writing Dialogue: Fifty Things Your Characters Can Do While They Talk, An Illustrated Guide To Writing People Of Color, and How Much Time Has Passed In Your Story: How & Why To Keep Track.
Kristen | She’s Novel
Kristen is a writing teacher, and this link goes to her Pinterest profile rather than a specific board. (Because too many choices!) Her boards cover almost every aspect of writing fiction – writing craft, the business of writing, character inspiration, and character names. Go poke around! There’s lots to see!
The Big Kahuna of writing magazines has a substantial Pinterest presence as well. Most of their boards have only a few pins, but they have two group boards, with multiple contributors, that are worth following.
This is the Pinterest page for the blog Readers + Writers Journal, which is a handy resource for authors in the book-promotion trenches. Among their twenty boards are marketing ideas and writing tips, along with less-serious fare like their Famous People Reading board.
Book Review Sites and Libraries
Another writing-related angle on Pinterest comes from book reviewers and libraries. Following these boards will add must-read books and all kinds of historical tidbits to your stream.
Now, if you’ve still got energy for more exploring, check out this post from The Write Life: Twenty Inspiring Pinterest Boards for Writers. There’s lots of cool stuff!
For those of you who are already Pinterest-invested, I hope these links give you new ways to be inspired, and if you’ve been looking for a reason to join, do it! You might learn something! Thanks so much, and if you have any favorite writing-related Pinterest boards, leave a link in the comments.
Ronnie Durand is a country boy who transfers to the University of Washington after two years at Central. He'll have to give up playing football, though finishing his education at a major university in Seattle - and being out and proud without having to look over his shoulder - makes the sacrifice worthwhile.
But finding friends at a huge school is tough, especially when the hottest guy Ronnie meets makes him doubt his own sanity.
Sang's been on his own a long time. He's only a couple steps away from living on the street, and he's got dreams so big they don't leave space for a steady boyfriend. Then he meets Ronnie, who just might be strong enough to break through his barriers....as long as Sang lets him in on one big secret.
I write romance: m/f, m/m, and v/h, where the h is for human and the v is for vampire … or sometimes demon … I lean more towards funny than angst. When I’m not writing I take care of tiny premature babies or teenagers, depending on whether I’m at home or at work. My husband is a soul of patience, my dog’s cuteness is legendary, and we share the homestead with three ferrets. Who steal things. Because they’re brats.

Roane Publishing is giving away THREE
eARCs of Trouble in Paradise!
Trouble in Paradise
A Paradise Ranch Novel
Author: London Saint James
Publisher: Roane Publishing
Genre: Contemporary Western Erotic Romance
Keywords: Erotic, Western, Romance, Spanking, Multiple Partners,Suspense, Contemporary
Description: If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go back to Dallas.
Since coming home Sutton has inherited herself a heap of headaches, two bossy men who want her for their own, threatening notes, and a whole lot of trouble in Paradise.
Having Doc McNab as competition, not to mention being ten years Sutton’s senior, and under her employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning the, sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him. But that wasn’t going to stop the man from trying.
With the exception of the pretty as a picture, Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab’s childhood sucked. He’d been jerked around more than raised by his ex-convict of a father, eventually leaving the girl, and West Texas behind. Now, he’s all grown and back in Sutton’s life, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to stay there.
