uke would go to the ends of the earth to figure out why Morgan ran away five years ago and make things right with her. However, a dangerous trek up the mountains to her family’s cabin might not have been the smartest choice. To say she was happy to see him would be a huge lie. Having to rescue him, mortifying for Luke.
Toss a kidnapper into the mix and their feelings for each other are brought into perspective, revealing parts of themselves they never thought would come to light.
This was really the last thing she needed; she couldn’t help but panic. What would happen when he woke up? Could he have known she was back and tried to come see her at the cabin and that’s why he got lost? There were only two people that knew she was coming to town at all.
After she reluctantly re-bandaged the wound on the back of his head and settled him on the pillow, Morgan stepped out the back door for a deep breath of fresh air. She radioed dispatch an update on the hiker’s condition, then had a few words for her uncle as well. “Uncle Bill, did you know the missing hiker was Luke?” She’d proceeded to tell her uncle what she thought of his shenanigans and how could he put her in that kind of a situation, but he claimed the reception was bad and he couldn’t hear her.
Bad reception my ass.
Had he really known all along who she was supposed to be rescuing? Knowing his ornery scheming ways, he’d convinced Holly Search and Rescue to play right along with his plan, that old fart. Maybe that was why her brother would be delayed coming into town because no way would she believe Tyler was part of the hoax too.
